There’s a playful four bars that usher in the song before things punch out into a slamming pop-punk that thrusts Old Neon’s new song into the spotlight.

This is the first song we’ve heard since their debut album, Can’t Fucking Wait. The song is bright and full of intricate detail. The band is tighter than a bow string and that makes everything pop with vibrant texture.

The lyrics are a regretful retrospective of a failed relationship, with the kicker being the great line: ‘You can keep your misery; I don’t need the company!‘.

As an addendum, I’ve probably butchered the lyrics a bit as there’s some great staccato delivery that’s way too fast for my brain, which in fact is old and grey. Contact me with corrections!

Both Old Neon and Mallory Run are playing Four Chord Music Festival in June with the likes of A Day To Remember, Militarie Gun, The All-American Rejects, Something Corporate (swoon), and more.

Keep Your Misery Lyrics

Feels worthless to say to you
Nothing I can say to change your point of view
Now I’m finally learning
The truth is you never compromise
And I just have to draw the line
So back it up and say goodbye
’cause life’s too short to waste any time

Always stuck between
(Always between, always between)
Day and evergreen
Can’t wait for things to get better
It’s not like we live forever
You keep your misery
I don’t need the company

You know that we’re not old and grey
Put it in a line – the one for hypocrites
I don’t expect to find any
Bit of comfort in ‘I told you so’s
And there’s no shame in letting go
Of something that has run its course
I think that we should close the door

Always stuck between
(Always between, always between)
Day and evergreen
Can’t wait for things to get better
It’s not like we live forever
You keep your misery
I don’t need the company

There’s no telling what comes after this
Maybe nothing
Maybe this is all there is
Just walk away
No time to waste
Don’t want to realize
I gave you too much of my life

Always stuck between
(Always between, always between)
Day and evergreen
Can’t wait for things to get better
It’s not like we live forever
You keep your misery
I don’t need the company
