Debate Escape
Republican Film Noir

With enigmatic song titles adorning the sleeve and an onslaught of pacey post-hardcore on the disk, Debate Escape are back with serious intent.

‘Republican Film Noir’ kicks off with an earthquake of intense guitars accompanied by bass tremors and explosive drums. Comparisons to the likes of The Used on the heavy side and The Early November on the more emotional side are well justified and help to sum up a sound that flicks between vulnerable melodies and aggressive riffs at the flick of a switch.

Second track, ‘The Tabloids Coercion Programme’ has plenty of unexpected moments slotted between hooky heavy moments and a chorus so big it’s got a red light on the top.

This record sounds like an action movie, with a thrilling series of stunts performed in a dirty white vest. Shoes optional.

Debate Escape write consistently good songs with the rawness of youngsters but performed with the maturity of somewhat wrinklier musicians. This is the must-own band for screamo fans everywhere.
