Opus
Sample Aura EP
I guess I’d describe this sort of thing as Instrumental Science metal – it sounds like System Of A Down, if the singer had been gagged (if only…).
There is some rocking guitar in there, at its heaviest getting into Therapy? territory, and at its mellowest more like Mogwai. There are some interesting dynamics on display here but it’s an atmosphere to get lost in rather then emotion to grab you which is prevalent. Think Metallica does Hawkwind without the vocals and missing those killer melodies.
Don’t get me wrong, its not bad, but I guess I’m just too much of an old fashioned melody lover to stay hooked over ten tracks.
