Pilotlight
Music To Cross The Road To
The current fixation with all things indie would welcome Pilotlight into the charts with open arms. The vocals are mostly melodic and soothing until you’re surprised with something a bit rawer. The blend of music and vocals airs on the side of Coldplay; slowly dripping anguish into your ears.
The title track is definitely the better of the two, but the lack of up-tempo material doesn’t really do them any favours.
Second track, ‘All Purpose Underneath’, is like walking into a wall of melancholy and it’s not long before simple guitars creep in for a haunting effect. The lyrics lose any roughness and the many pauses for reflection leave you wondering where the rest of it is.
It’s a shame that this single has turned out a bit wet because they’re obviously a talented group with much more to offer.
