Hellcyon
9 ’till Live
‘9 ’till Live’ is essentially a single, backed up by four live tracks as a bit of a bonus feature.
The title track is a riff-fest that runs its fingers across influences such as Guns ‘n’ Roses, Metallica, and even a bit of Supergrass. It’s a ballsy rock sound with accomplished musicianship and an overall feel that would be right at home on a Bill and Ted soundtrack.
The pick of the live recordings is ‘Psycho Freako Manimal’, which has a funky edge and hooky chorus, but it’s worth noting how tight they sound on all the live songs.
Hellcyon are serious musicians who don’t mind having fun and this record is a good demonstration of their talents.
