Juno Ashes
Wait by the Gate
A sunny meadow is conjured up by the piano and guitar epicality of Juno Ashes’ intro to ‘Wait by the Gate’. Rolling swathes of leafy layers cascade onto the earthy solid drums and it’s a succession of rises and falls in the build-up to what you can only expect to be a massive chorus.
It’s a teasingly long wait, in fact, you’d think it was about to transcend into a spacey cut-down fizzle-out, but it all comes back together for the final smashing chorus.
The vocal is a barely contained emotional force in this song, with a heartfelt power that would impress a genuine opera singer (one that doesn’t sell phones). A great track.
