Hitchcock Rules - Cancun

Hitchcock Rules
Cancun

Churning up a buttery mix of rock, pop and jazz doesn’t result in the kind of cheese you might expect, but instead creates a tempting smoothie of tones and textures.

‘Cancun’ is the most gently building song. It reminds me a lot of Paul Simon, with a great beat and nifty bass guitar grooving away while the guitar is so subtle it’s almost incidental (I say ‘almost’ because the song wouldn’t work without it!).

This is a really good song and all that’s missing is a bit of oomph in the chorus, which doesn’t quite separate itself from a song that needs that little additional change to shine. That said, it’s a genuine pleasure listening to this band and you can forgive them their desire to keep things chilled.
