Dlugokecki
Dreams of a Kamakazi Pilot

Jump to...

Dlugokecki have released two tracks so far this year. First, we had the world-beat driven ‘The Optimist’, full of melodic atmosphere like a big soundtrack moment. Now we have ‘Dreams of a Kamakazi Pilot’, a pop song with a creative beat and a rock edge.

Something that has been a constant in a Dlugokecki song is playfulness. There’s obviously playfulness in the lyrics, but also in the way the words are used to create counter-rhythms that make your ears prick up. This song feels conversational at times, with the offer of a biscuit and a cup of tea. By the end, it’s picked up into a full-bodied uplifting rock anthem.

Dlugokecki are not likely to headline Wembley. We are not likely to play the pyramid stage at Glastonbury. But we really know how to have a good time together! And we really love this song!

The video is filmed at Funland, a family amusement park on Hayling Island, which you can find in Langstone Harbour on the south coast (between Portsmouth and Chichester).

Dreams of a Kamakazi Pilot Lyrics

Ooh, can we be marooned
If we can’t can we be marooned soon
Banging about with a grand and a taxi cab
Waiting for us with our heads in the clouds

Ooh, can we be abandoned
Like Atari ET in the landfill
If you didn’t know about it look it up on the net
I digress, I think it’s the stress of what is next

Keep it up just avoid the silence
Keep it up to avoid isolation
Keep it up just to feel important
Keep it up just to feel immortal
Keep it up just to feel alive for five minutes more

Every single one of us means something to someone
Every single one of us means something to someone
Every single one of us means something to someone
Every single one of us

Ooh, can we be fun
Has fun just come and been and gone?
Take a risk and a biscuit and a cup of tea
And a window to a distant land where we can be free

Keep it up just avoid the silence
Keep it up just to feel alive for five minutes more

How does he feel as he heads for the sun?
What goes on in that mind?
Anyone?
And how do I feel as I head for the sun?
What goes on in my mind?
Everyone

Every single one of us means something to someone
Every single one of us means something to someone
Every single one of us means something to someone
Every single one of us

Ooh, can we be marooned
If we can’t can we be marooned soon
