False Heads are a fantastic, vital new band. A new voice coming up through the scene. Not our words, but those of Frank Turner who has collaborated with False Heads on their latest release, ‘Hangman (Single Version)’. This song was originally released on their 2022 album, Sick Moon, but this new version is even more slamming.

The song sounds bigger and tighter than the album version – it’s been turned from an already great song into an absolute slammer. It all starts with a distinctive slide-led motif before providing a chunky verse and a huge chorus. The second loop leads to a middle eight and solo, after which the song reprises instead of punching out another chorus. Nice!

This is a short and sharp post-punk power song. Lyrically oblique and utterly creative. It will appeal to fans of Alkaline Trio or Throat – folks who like a substantial punch behind melodic rock.

False Heads are heading to Germany, France, and The Netherlands before a string of UK dates. Check out their tour dates for information.

Hangman (Single Version) Lyrics

Me, You, I’m out
All the dead spots are mourning too
You, I’m down
Blow a kiss and guide the hangman through

In, I’m in, I’m in, I’m in
If you hang with me
Commit
I’m in, I’m in, I’m in, I’m in
If you hang with me
Commit
I’ll win

Me, You, I tried
Days like cats screeching in the night
Martyrs don’t die they’ll just show you
What they tried to hide

In, I’m in, I’m in, I’m in
If you hang with me
Commit
I’m in, I’m in, I’m in, I’m in
If you hang with me
Commit
I’ll win
