Hear me out… What if The 1975 released a pop-punk single!? Moving swiftly on from that cheap opening, let’s look properly at Good Terms’ latest release, ‘Hear Me Out’.

What we have here isn’t really pop-punk, it’s squarely in the emo zone, though there are elements that get drawn in from elsewhere. It’s tight and intricate, energetic and bouncy. The guitar solo does nod to the Cheshire lotharios, but overall it leans more to The Early November.

I love listening to a song that makes me think: ‘Wow, I’d never remember all these switches’. That’s exactly what happens here… it’s like watching someone fold your new purchase in two flicks, thinking you’re going to try it when you get home, and then watching your new band tee fly out the window.

Every song this band has released to date has been top-drawer.

Hear Me Out Lyrics

I let my thoughts all get too hot
You know that’s way we are
But I don’t think that’s what I did
To make you cut me off so hard

Can’t believe you didn’t call me
To talk when Eddie died
Stared at your name
All day and I gave up and cried

Can you give me an open mind?
You know I’m not the one you need to cast aside
Can you tell me with open eyes
You can’t see you side with the bad guy?

Don’t say you’re ready to make up, say you’re sorry
I won’t just fake and play along
You wish I’d bottle
it up and not be honest
Too late, the seal is broken off

So where do we go from here?
An awkward silence at the dinner table every year?
No! I can’t stand it anymore
And it gets worse when I ignore
Wish you’d hear me out like you never have before

Can you give me an open mind?
You know I’m not the one you need to cast aside
Can you tell me with open eyes
You can’t see you side with the bad guy?

Don’t say you’re ready to make up, say you’re sorry
I won’t just fake and play along
You wish I’d bottle it up and not be honest
Too late, the seal is broken, seal is broken

I broke it off
