Cassyette - This World Fucking Sucks

Cassyette
Four Leaf Clover

Jump to...

The subdued fuzz of ‘Four Leaf Clover’ showcases Cassyette’s great voice, while the choral chants flickering in the background bring a distinctive twist.

The first verse is just guitar and voice, then some bass drum arrives with the ‘losing you, so I keep drinking to forget’ line. The chorus is neat and tidy, but the chanting adds a distinct flavour, along with a strong motif that echoes through the strings later on. The middle eight is where things grow in intensity, melody, chants, and strings all swirling around each other.

Cassyette has a great rock vocal and we’ll get to hear more great songs like this when This World Fucking Sucks arrives in August.

Four Leaf Clover Lyrics

Walk under a ladder, step on all the cracks
Don’t break your mother’s back, four-leaf clover
Did I break a mirror ’cause this summer feels like winter
And I lose my head to get over…
Losing you so I keep drinking to forget
Finding you in places I never expect

And it feels like I had nine lives but of my state of mind
Does it heal I go on with life but I’m running out of time
Over, over

You’re the bird at my window leaving feathers on my pillow
Thank you for the four-leaf clover
You gave me a lifeline now my sheets are stained with red wine
Swear I’ll do my best to get sober

And it feels like I had nine lives but of my state of mind
Does it heal I go on with life but I’m running out of time

I’m the luckiest the luckiest girl in the world
To get to have you
So lucky cause I knew you

I just need a wish I’m throwing salt over my shoulder
That I’d wake up from a dream and all this sadness would be over
You know I’d give anything for a day or a moment
But now we’re in October and I’m still not getting over

And it feels like I had nine lives but I’m running out of time
I’m the luckiest the luckiest girl in the world
To get to have you
So lucky cause I knew you
