Bitters - Forgive/Forget

Forgive/Forget

Jump to...

The first of five songs intended for a new Bitters EP release, ‘Forgive/Forget’ is a break-up song with teeth and claws.

The song takes a two-thread guitar verse with smartly rhythmic lyrics and adds a fuzz pop chorus. You might hear a flicker of No Doubt here and there. The hook line of ‘we’ll never be friends’ is certainly sticky – it’s what you’ll search for when you hear the song on the radio and miss the DJ mention who wrote it!

The song’s title comes earlier in the chorus; ‘We can pretend that we never met, I’ll take forgive, you can take forget.’ And this is the story of the song. Let’s not pretend we can remain on good terms after what’s happened. Sometimes it’s better to rip things up and move on.

The EP doesn’t have a release date yet, but we might get another single or two before it lands.

Forgive/Forget Lyrics

Life is funny but not in the haha way I thought it
I’m quite British, we know I’m too good at being honest
Wish there were alternatives to the pickle that we’re in
But it seems that you‘ve chosen the hard way
Guess I wasn’t innocent, it takes two to ruin it
So I’ll try my best to take the higher road
For us both

We can pretend that we never met
I’ll take forgive, you can take forget
Let’s try to hold on to the sentimental value
But damn you, we’ll never be friends
We’ll never be friends

Please delete all of the photos that you cropped me out of
You got lost with someone else well thank god that you found ‘em
It doesn’t take a genius to see what this really is
Maybe thats why they say love is blinded
So at your convenience leave your keys and this address
I suppose that in my head I planned it so that…

We can pretend that we never met
I’ll take forgive, you can take forget
Let’s try to hold on to the sentimental value
But damn you, we’ll never be friends
We’ll never be friends
We’ll never be friends

Not now that it’s come to this
We know there’s no coming back from this, not now
Not now that it’s come to this
No way, I’m not letting you back in somehow
Not now that it’s come to this
We know there’s no coming back from this, not now
Not now that it’s come to this
No way, I’m not letting you back in somehow
Let’s try to hold on to the sentimental value
But damn you, we’ll never be friends
