Pale Waves
Gravity

Jump to...

Hark, what angelic host descends from heaven through the Rococo-esque clouds? It’s the intro to Pale Waves’ new single, ‘Gravity’. And what a wondrous love song this is.

‘She’s living in mind,’ the lyrics profess. ‘She’s pulling me like gravity everywhere she goes.’ It’s a veritable garden with love growing like giant roses. Yet the thorny weeds are ever-present. ‘You see she loves Jesus, so that always stopped us. So I tried to pray but nothing changed.’

And that’s what we have in a nutshell. The song is a beautiful dreamy pop track with angelic vocals, but there’s bite there, too.

Along with ‘Perfume’ and ‘Glasgow’, we have a strong signature across the new album, Smitten. It’s just a month away. Can’t wait.

Gravity is about a woman who chose Jesus over me. It took the longest of all of the songs on the album to finish, I think we must have rewritten it millions of times to get it to where it is now.

Gravity Lyrics

I like to imagine
Me and her in the garden
As the flowers start to bloom
She’s living in my mind
Not knowing what she’ll find
But she stays and stays
All night all day

I’m a little bit in over my head
Said I wouldn’t let her but instead

She’s pulling me like gravity
Everywhere she goes
Am I in too deep
Or outta my reach
Little does she know
She keeps pulling me
Keeps pulling me like gravity

We go well together
But I couldn’t let her
Know she’s all I think about
You see she loves Jesus
So that always stopped us
So I tried to pray but nothing changed

I’m a little bit in over my head
Said I wouldn’t let her but instead

She’s pulling me like gravity
Everywhere she goes
Am I in too deep
Or outta my reach
Little does she know
She keeps pulling me, keeps pulling me
Oh the effect that she has on me
She’s pulling me like gravity

I’ll go anywhere she wants
I’ll be anything anyone
Talking too much to Mary
Oh and now she wants ordinary

She’s pulling me like gravity
Everywhere she goes
Am I in too deep
Or outta my reach
Little does she know
She keeps pulling me, keeps pulling me
Oh the affect that she has on me
She’s pulling me like gravity
