FRENEMIES

Stand Atlantic will give us their new album, Was Here, on the 23rd of August – and the collectors bundle has already sold out on Hopeless Records. So, we know you’re just as eager as us for the long player. Until then, we have ‘FRENEMIES’ to sustain us.

This song will tickle those who loved Pink Elephant as it has both the melodic edge and choppiness of that era, though with a more weighty moment here and there, too. The song has distinct sounds for the verse, pre-chorus, and chorus. It’s melodic, then quiet, then thick and wide. There’s also a solo that drops into a riffy instrumental to provide a mid-song interlude.

I’m rather partial to this combination.

As for the subject, it’s best summed up in someone else’s words…

FRENEMIES is about rocky friendships and not knowing where you stand with someone.

Stand Atlantic are just finishing up some tour dates in the US before heading to Australia, then in September they’ll visit the UK and Europe.

Frenemies Lyrics

There isn’t any nice way to say it
I know your little chrome heart’s breaking
If you don’t wanna make conversation
Make it a war, make it a war
And I don’t feel anything, nowhere to go
I threw my sorry spirit out the door
I don’t wanna do this anymore
It always takes a little piece of me

‘Cause I don’t need enemies if I’ve got you, so

Do your worst
Like you’re a hard act to follow
Why don’t you sharpen your stones?
‘Cause nothing hurts when you’re hollow

You got me on the front line waiting
You should know I’m slowly fading
Feels like I just kick holes in ceilings
Breaking my home to breathe, nothing to see

‘Cause I don’t need enemies if I’ve got you, so

Do your worst
Like you’re a hard act to follow
Why don’t you sharpen your stones?
‘Cause nothing hurts when you’re hollow

And I don’t feel anything, nowhere to go
I threw my sorry spirit out the door
I don’t wanna do this anymore
It always takes a little piece of me, so

Do your worst
Like you’re a hard act to follow
Why don’t you sharpen your stones?
‘Cause nothing hurts when you’re hollow
Do your worst
Like you’re a hard act to follow
Why don’t you sharpen your stones?
‘Cause nothing hurts when you’re hollow
