Magnolia Park - The Void

The Void

Magnolia Park bring a solid chunk of heavy melodic metal in their latest single, ‘The Void’. Yes, we used to describe this band along the pop-punk spectrum, but they’ve certainly moved into heavier territory over time and this song certainly doesn’t fit the old label.

‘The Void’ has the intensity and sensibility of a Linkin Park track, throwing a full-on wall of noise in the intro before moving into a more stripped and rhythmic arrangement for the verse. They deploy short quiet breaks in front of the heavy moments, so you can feel the full force when it arrives.

The video keeps it close to Magnolia Park’s long-term horror themes, with a fuzzy television playing the part of the entrance to the void, a dark pit with walls made of eyes.

The Void Lyrics

Touched my heart
To see if it’s beating
Up all night
My blood starts weeping
Carry my soul
My spirit’s fleeting
Hold my mirror cause I won’t stop grieving

I try
To fight
and I keep coming back but I fall flat
I’m face
To face
With a blacked out sun cause I can’t trust anyone

No one’s gonna save me now
Cause I’m fallin’ in the void
Everyday I’m breaking down
Cause I’m feelin’ paranoid

I’m missin’ the person I used to be
My soul is burnin’ like gasoline
Cause no one’s gonna save me
When I’m fallin’ in the void

My head stitched on
My vices eat me
Can’t trust myself
My thoughts deceive me
I can’t get up
Cause I keep freezing
Read my lips
Can someone heal me
Dug my grave
I’m at my weakest
I’m at my weakest

No one’s gonna save me now
Cause I’m fallin’ in the void
Everyday I’m breaking down
Cause I’m feelin’ paranoid

I’m missin’ the person I used to be
My soul is burnin’ like gasoline
Cause no one’s gonna save me
When I’m fallin’ in the void

For the death of my spirit
For the sake of my soul
Give me a reason why I shouldn’t go
Cause I’m losing hope

No one’s gonna save me now
Cause I’m fallin’ in the void
Everyday I’m breaking down
Cause I’m feelin’ paranoid
No one’s gonna save me now
No one’s gonna save me now

I’m missing the person I used to be
My soul is burning like gasoline
Cause no one’s gonna save me
When I’m falling in the void
