In their latest single, ‘Drown’, Bleach Lab have upped the tempo a little to deliver a delightful and shimmering track that blends their shoegaze into indie-pop territory.

The song is perfect – there’s not a single thing I’d change. It bleeds melacholy from every element from the sad lyrics to the broken crackle of the guitar. It spins all these elements into a rich warm sound that wraps you in its blanket.

The pre-chorus line of ‘he says he wants you but it’s too much / he says he loves you but it’s no enough’ captures a massive emotional vibe concisely and probably deserves an award for special songwriting moment.

Expect to enjoy every moment while this song breaks your heart.

Drown Lyrics

You look so pretty when you cry
Makes them wanna break your heart to watch you die inside

You’ve been running all your life
Late night talks and smoking in the shadow of the night

He said he wants you
But it’s too much
He loves you
But it’s not enough

You hurt yourself to feel alive
Holding up the whole weight of the sky
When you want something you let it rule your life
Holding onto things that don’t feel right

When you hold me like you do
Sitting by your window
Morning lights just coming through
Tell me i was made for you
I forget the reason i was getting over you

He said he wants you
But it’s too much
He loves you
But it’s not enough

You hurt yourself to feel alive
Holding up the whole weight of the sky
When you want something you let it rule your life
Holding onto things that don’t feel right

Oh the lights are coming on
and you’re still hanging around
Why don’t you just go home and leave me here to drown
or you could lie and tell me baby i’m the one
In the morning when i wake up
we both know you’ll be gone

You hurt yourself to feel alive
Holding up the whole weight of the sky
When you want something you let it rule your life
Holding onto things that don’t feel right
