Cartographer - A Flair For The Obscene

Cartographer
A Flair For The Obscene

One of the most intricate and listenable bands right now, Cartographer have dropped EP A Flair For The Obscene, which nudges onto album length with it’s seven tracks and 25 minute runtime.

The title track, ‘A Flair For The Obscene’ kicks things off. The song has a fill that takes it straight to the zipping first chorus. The verse that follows has great atmosphere as it wends its way towards the next chorus.

The song has uplifting bridges (musically and lyrically) and a melodic solo followed by a glassy outro. If you broke it all out step by step it would sound distinctly bizarre, but Cartographer know what they’re doing.

I’ve got a flair for the obscene
This garden I can’t believe means everything to me
Something here needs a change
Come off the rails but I still find my way

We have separate reviews with videos and lyrics for the other tracks for you to explore:

The video is expected to follow the EP release, so we’ll keep an eye out and add it once we spot it in the wild. The band has released a teaser with this on-location photo:
