Following on from their amazing People Like Me & You, The Sherlocks are preparing to release their fifth album, Everything Must Make Sense. It’s available for pre-order with a release date of May 16th, 2025. There are also tour dates coming to accompany the release.

So what does ‘Bones’ tell us about the new album? Well, there are familiar elements that you’ll recognise but the beat nudges into highly danceable territory. The fuzzy bass drives the verse along and the pre-chorus quiet makes the big pumping chorus pop. It still has that Britrock element, but if the indie disco still existed, this would be a floor filler.

The lyrics have a sharp edge. The essence is that the real you, the one that’s running through your bones, is the person you are when you’re not being observed.

Our third single Bones is a monster tune! Proper funky and proper driving. It’s the perfect example of us having fun in the studio, the songs in a mad tuning, there’s about four bass tracks happening at once, it just went a bit crazy whilst recording. But we were having fun, we didn’t want to restrict ourselves whenever it’s sounding good. This is our fifth record and if you can’t try out mad ideas by now, when can you? I think the fans are gonna really love this tune when they hear it. Definitely one to be excited about! It sounds like if Prodigy and Primal Scream had a baby, it’s a MONSTER!

Bones Lyrics

I just wanna ride on the side of whatever you’re smoking
Find out where we’re going cos normal’s just a thing of the past
Rip up all the rules cos it’s cool and we know what we’re after
Everyone’s a winner, you’re a sinner if you challenge my views

Can you feel it?
Can you really?
Don’t tell me lies
No no

It’s written in the stars
We’re going nowhere
Finding who we are never felt like a process
What’s written in your phone
Isn’t who you are at home
It’s written in the stars
We’re going nowhere
Who d’you think you are
Standing up in a protest?
What’s running through your bones
Is who you are at home

I just wanna ride on the side of whatever you’re smoking
Find out where we’re going cos normal’s just a thing of the past
Rip up all the rules cos it’s cool and we know what we’re after
Everyone’s a winner, you’re a sinner if you challenge my views

Can you feel it?
Can you really?
Don’t tell me lies
No no

It’s written in the stars
We’re going nowhere
Finding who we are never felt like a process
What’s written in your phone
Isn’t who you are at home
It’s written in the stars
We’re going nowhere
Who d’you think you are
Standing up in a protest?
What’s running through your bones
Is who you are at home, yeah

Oh love, look out for me
Cos stranger days are coming I believe
Oh love, look out for me
We’ll walk hand in hand to the river
And its all just been a dream

It’s written in the stars
We’re going nowhere
Finding who we are never felt like a process
What’s running through your bones?
It’s written in the stars
We’re going nowhere
Who d’you think you are
Standing up in a protest?
What’s running through your bones?
It’s running through your bones
What’s running through your bones?
