Mike A
Posh and Becks
With five EP’s under his belt as a member of The Authentics, Mike A has found the time to pop together a power-pop single in between touring with the band.
‘Posh and Becks’ is a shiny happy pop song with jangling guitars, tidy bass lines and a vocal that almost heads towards a Busted reference. The sing along melody in the chorus is thickened up by subtle backing vocals and everything is, well, pleasant.
Track two of the brace, ‘Angel of the Night’ is a bit darker with less pace and a lot less sugary pop. It’s still a fairly immediate song, but a bit more George Michael than boyband.
Mike A has found an outlet for all those pop feelings that have been welling up inside and it’s a good job, because if you let those feeling build up you end up applying to go on the X-Factor.
It’s not ground breaking, but it’s not really intended to be. It’s just a couple of nice songs that come across as very honest pop.
