Sunderland may not be the happiest of places to be right now, what with their team wallowing at the bottom of the Premiership with little but pride to play for. But that’s football and as your girlfriend reminds you constantly, it’s just a game. Musically, things are looking much more Champions League, with Seven Heroes even challenging for the title with their on-form debut single ‘Million Faces’.
It’s straight in to the full impact of this band with the main guitar hook soaring above the fizzing rhythm guitars and solid bass. The multi-vocal approach sees a sub-melody complementing the lead vocal, a bit like Geneva used to do.
There’s also plenty of clean and warm delay on the guitars during the verse, building up a nice atmospheric tune that floats around the bass guitar. Things get crunchier as the brief chorus leads us back to the hooky intro.
It’s short and sweet for this debut, leaving us to look forward to the LP before we get a chance to see their starting eleven.
