Tripped and Falling
Ashes and Ember
Thank god for Tripped and Falling! I hadn’t realised it, but I’ve been craving a decent melodic rock-out. Now it’s arrived I can tell it has been far too long since I heard a really, really good record.
‘Ashes and Ember’ instantly rams a quality hook in your face before delivering a series of melodic, passionate, and downright anthemic sections directly to your eardrums.
The terrier-like energy of the a-side is set in contrast by the pussy-cat rock ballad of ‘Bleed Victoria’. Did I say ‘pussy-cat’? Well, I also ought to warn that the claws are out courtesy of ballsy vocal and powerful guitars.
If you’ve been starved of that big emotional rock, the likes of which The Early November hinted at in the darkest hours and that The Used nodded at in the lighter moments, then Tripped and Falling ought to be your next stop.
