Joe McCorriston is armed with an acoustic guitar and a solid vocal and brings honest pop music from a punk kid. His album Different Seasons arrived in August and ‘One Day’ sits at the top of a list of eleven songs and is a McCorriston classic.
The guitar provides rhythmic open chords with flickering suspension to liven things up for the intro. The vocal arrives warm and strong, delivering a staccato verse contrasting with a more free melody that swings up and down in the chorus.
The lyrics are reasonably open to interpretation, but you can see some of that promised punk attitude alongside some stoic enjoy the journey philosophy.
In all, this song is well-crafted and shows what Joe can do with a guitar in his hands.
