Alarms and Bells
You have to contend with a very strange vocal effect on this track, but despite the crazy idea of pumping their voices through some kind of stomp-box, The Clerks do have an interesting song on offer.
‘Alarms and Bells’ is like The Pet Shop Boys, The Lightening Seeds, and Deacon Blue all wrapped up in an unlikely indie-fied package. A guitar and metallophone intro quickly breaks into a jangle-crunch verse led by female singer, Alex. Max’s vocal is introduced by way of harmonies before eventually taking the reins.
Unfortunately, The Clerks have now called it a day. If they gave up because their ‘BOSS Vocal-Killer VK500’ broke, they should consider an immediate reunion with it absent.
