Heroine Honey - Dive Doll

Heroine Honey bring a grunge edge to their power rock sound in ‘Dive Doll’. The song has lots of rich detail beneath that anthemic sound and the lyrics will leave you with many questions.

The drum intro has a Britpop hint, but immediately we drop into the palm-muted verse. I like the pattern of the vocal, it’s a recognisable signature for Heroine Honey. A nice guitar line joins the ‘again’ sections.

The chorus has bounce and lots of it. Charity’s vocal gets unleashed to good effect here and the spacing of the ‘don’t hate me’ line works perfectly.

The middle eight has a sultry darkness and provides a build into the calm-before-the-storm chorus outro.

The lyrics are abstract-with-detail. I’m not one hundred per cent sure what the song’s about, but lines like ‘dolls were blasting motel head’ and the mid-chorus ‘you lactating honey’ provide discussion topics for later!

The demonic video is well rendered. The story is clear and the execution is superb. If you like a bit of exorcism-based horror, you’ll love it.

Dive Doll Lyrics

Violet skies
Soaking wet
Dolls were blasting
Motel head
Saddest star
I’ve seen yet
Don’t wanna share you
I confess
Again

Psychosomatic undressed
You are yourself and nothing less
and like a groupie you’re a sin
Glitter bruises up my skin
Again
Again

You tell me you want me
You tell me you need me
You lactating honey
Don’t hate me
Don’t blame me
Don’t hate me

Sad and cruel delirium
Cotton candy orgasm
I’m like a groupie you’re a sin
Your glitter bruises up my skin
Again
Again

You tell me you want me
You tell me you need me
You lactating honey
Don’t hate me
Don’t blame me
Don’t hate me

Dead dolls dancing in the rain
All we wanted was in vain

You tell me you want me
You tell me you want

You tell me you want me
You tell me you need me
You lactating honey
Don’t hate me
Don’t blame me
Don’t hate me
Don’t
Baby Don’t hate me

Don’t
Don’t hate me
Don’t
