When you first hear Cartographer, the precision of it all catches your ear first. Sonically, this band has overwhelming layers of complexity. Only when you acclimatise can you fully appreciate each song, which are powerful melodic anthems.

My first couple of listens to ‘Tom From MySpace Is Still MY Friend’ were filled with appreciation for the clever elements of the song. But then I locked in to it all and the lyrics punched through. This is a smoldering break-up song that you could apply to many different kinds of relationship.

The song has all the elements we rave about with Cartographer. They’re an amazing and epic band and they’ve had an incredible run of singles and EPs. Check them out!

Tom From MySpace… Lyrics

I, I wish we could see, see eye to eye
Sometime, times you just need some time, I
No words can solve what pride has broken
You can deny but we both know it

Treating your friends like they’re just accessories
That’s why they’re going out of style
Airing out your dirty laundry
That you tried so hard to clean
Make no mistake I will be strong
My guiding light is all you’ve done wrong
With conscience clear I disavow
I won’t surrender to your poison now

I wanted to build us an empire
We wanted to take on this realm
We live in our crystal castle
But you keep throwing stones
Way in over my head
Is it even worth it?
Not going to do this any more

Treating your friends like they’re just accessories
That’s why they’re going out of style
Airing out your dirty laundry
That you tried so hard to clean
Make no mistake I will be strong
My guiding light is all you’ve done wrong
With conscience clear I disavow
I won’t surrender to your poison now

As a crow that brought the rain
As it washes all away
Deep within the waves I found myself again
A part of me always knew
That there’s a better version of me without you

(‘Cause you’re)
Treating your friends like they’re just accessories
That’s why they’re going out of style
(No one wants to help you now)
Airing out your dirty laundry
That you tried so hard to clean
Make no mistake I will be strong
(I will be strong)
My guiding light is all you’ve done wrong
(Is all you’ve done)
With conscience clear I disavow
I won’t surrender to your poison now
